舞台美術をさせて頂いた黒テントの『玉手箱』公演が終わってだいぶ日が経ってしまったが、舞台写真家の青木司さん撮影の写真が届いたので、ここで紹介しておこうと思う。180枚程の写真全てを紹介出来ないのは残念だけど。それで、いまさらなんだが『玉手箱』のスタッフ陣なども紹介すると、舞台監督は三津久さん、照明はシアタークリエイションの横原由祐さん、音響はステージオフィスの大久保友紀さん、衣装は黒テントの山下順子さん、そして宣伝美術は画家の寺門孝之さんにチラシの絵を描いて頂き、チラシのアートディレクションは名久井直子さんである。因みに、やはり寺門さんのファンは多いようで、このチラシがかなりの集客力を持ったのは確かだ。

冒頭のシーン。手前に見える便器はオーディションの末に選ばれた品。「舞台に便器が欲しい」と口走ったら、こともあろうに、いくつかの便器があちらこちらから出てきて、最終的に舞台の色や照明との相性でこいつが選ばれた。便器のオーディションをしたのは初めてだ。そもそもこんなにマジマジと便器を眺めたのは初めてだ。「いい便器だ」なんてコトバを口にしたのも初めてだ。
シリアスで哲学的なシーンだなと思っていたら唐突に始まるマンボの演奏。「出し抜けに」ってのはまさにこのことで、まあつまりはどうしてもペレスプラードのマンボを演奏したかったわけだろう。そりゃあ日本のストリップにはつきものですからね。ストリップを観たことがない人ですら、この曲を聴くと「あのエッチなかんじの曲でしょ」って口にするほどに日本人に刷り込まれた名曲。そんな曲の使い方を最初に始めたのはいったい誰なのか。
水族館のシーン。赤い舞台にこれほど青い照明が映えるとは思わなかった。照明の横原さんのセンスはいい。大久保さんの音響SEも「あぶく」の音。深海に居るような幻想的な情景がきちんと出来た。「玉手箱は海の底の秩序で、それを別の世界で開くと、その世界での秩序で評価されてしまう」と云う台詞は、哲学的で、暗示的で、この作品を象徴していた。
ストリップのシーン。踊り子（畑山佳美）が本当に脱ぐことを期待して観てた人はどれほど居ただろうか。舞台奥から現れた踊り子は、思わせぶりに舞台の中央へ色っぽく進み、かぶりつきになる男達をかき分け、舞台前の階段を降りるとそのまま踊りながら花道の奥へ消えてしまう。脱ぎはしないのである。「詐欺だ」と思ったお客さんが居たとしても、それは僕の責任ではない。
エピローグは出演者全員による島倉千代子の『この世の花』。云うまでもなく島倉千代子のデビュー曲。一条さゆりは島倉千代子の大ファンだった。どうでもいいことだが、写真右端のダンサー（滝本直子）は、公演期間中にどんどん衣装が薄着になり、楽日の頃にはヘソが出ていた。数日前に本人から聞いたところ、「片岡さんの希望だったんです」。その片岡さんは写真の右から5人目に少し見えている彼である。
二週間に亘る公演は、こうして無事に終わった。劇場に足を運んでくださった皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。そして、演出家不在の状況下で必死になっていた黒テントの皆さん、お疲れ様でした。
